Factors That Affect Egress Window Installation Cost

1. Window Type and Materials

The cost of an egress window varies based on the type and materials used. Common egress window design types include:

  • Casement Egress Windows: These typically cost $500 – $1,500, depending on size and material.
  • Sliding Egress Windows: A popular option ranging from $600 – $1,800.
  • Double-Hung Egress Windows: Typically priced between $700 – $2,000.
  • Custom or Specialty Windows: If you choose a custom design or premium materials, costs can exceed $2,500.

2. Excavation and Foundation Work

If your basement requires excavation for an egress window well, expect an increase in costs. Excavation typically ranges from $500 to $3,000, depending on soil conditions and foundation type. Homes with concrete block foundations may require additional reinforcements, increasing overall expenses.

3. Egress Window Well Installation

Installing an egress window well enhances drainage and safety. Costs for window wells depend on the material:

  • Plastic or Composite Wells: $200 – $600
  • Metal Wells: $300 – $800
  • Concrete Wells: $1,000 – $2,500

4. Drainage System and Waterproofing

Proper drainage is essential to prevent water infiltration. The cost for a drainage system and waterproofing measures typically ranges from $500 to $1,500, depending on site conditions and materials used.

5. Labor Costs

Labor costs can vary based on complexity and regional pricing. In St. Louis, the professional egress window installation process typically costs between $1,500 and $5,000, including permits, labor, and materials.

6. Permits and Code Compliance

St. Louis requires permits for egress window installation. Permit costs range from $100 to $500, and professional installers ensure compliance with egress window requirements.

Additional Factors That Can Increase Egress Window Cost

While the base cost covers essential aspects, additional elements may increase the overall price:

  • Custom Window Sizes or Shapes: If your space requires a custom solution, expect additional expenses.
  • Basement Finishing Adjustments: Cutting into finished basement walls or rerouting utilities can add costs.
  • Enhanced Security Features: Window well covers, security grates, and impact-resistant glass can increase costs by $100 to $1,000.

Dale and the guys did a fantastic job. We had a significant wall lean, and they made the repair look easy. They walked us through the permit and inspection processes. Their work is quality, and they are easy to work with. Highly recommended.

My experience with Cornerstone was a few years ago. I had a sump pump completely replaced, an entire basement wall braced and an outside (garage) wall piered. I have not had a problem since the work was done. The workers and the owner, Dale, were at my home when they said they would be. I am pleased with the work that was done and found Dale to be a man of his word. I would not hesitate to recommend Cornerstone.

We were getting ready to close on our house and 1 week before closing a heavy rain came and we had water in our laundry room in the basement. Dale and his crew came out the next day and got started on fixing the issue. They were fantastic and very detailed in explaining what they were going to do. Had it done in their time frame and cleaned everything up. Very professional and excellent service.

Quality work from quality folks. I called on a Friday afternoon to get a quote for poly jacking our sidewalk. They came out on a Saturday morning to take a look and got us on their schedule. Quite happy with how the fix looks as well!

After the huge flood, we had July 26, 2022. I finally decided I’d had enough with the flooding issue and contracted Cornerstone Structural Repair & Waterproofing to knock out my sliding glass door in my basement and cement the opening to form a solid concrete barrier. I am very satisfied with the end results!! Dale and his workers did a great job, very respectful of the property, very friendly and professional, and cleaned up after the work was completed. It has already come in handy after 27 years of dealing with flooding in my basement and replacing numerous appliances. I can be at peace now not having to worry every time we have a torrential downpour. Please see attached photos of the 2022 flood and the flood event this year in April. Kudos to Dale and his team!!!! 😁
